DUAL DIAGNOSIS RECOVERY PROGRAM

Integrated Treatment for Chemical Addiction and Mental Illness

CSEDNY’s Dual Diagnosis Recovery Program is an evidence based, best practice  program that treats adults who are chemically addicted and have a serious mental illness. CSEDNY successfully addresses the way substance abuse and mental illness can interact, worsening the client’s overall condition.

Two of 3 people with mental illness also abuse alcohol and other drugs, and their condition is known as dual diagnosis or MICA (mental illness and chemical addiction). People with schizophrenia, for example, might use cocaine to temporarily silence auditory hallucinations, while a client who has clinical depression and drinks alcohol will likely increase the severity of their depressive episodes.

Dual diagnosis treatment can help prevent recidivism, while enhancing compliance with local parole and probation departments and other mandating agencies.

The program offers:

  • Individual psychotherapy
  • Group therapy
  • Random urine toxicology
  • Relapse prevention
  • Psychiatric evaluation & medication treatment
  • Educational and vocational services
